This six frames piece was another project I was assigned for my cinematography class. The concept I pursued was "my favorite people in their favorite places." I embarked on a journey to capture intimate moments of my friends in their favorite spots on campus. This project aimed to intertwine human connection with the beauty of our surroundings.
The assignment called for six distinct 20-second shots with a static frame, providing a canvas for creativity within a confined structure. Inspired by the concept of showcasing individuals in their preferred environments, I met each of my subjects in their favorite place on campus to set up my shots.
Choosing to feature people as my primary subjects was a deliberate choice. I find that human presence adds depth and emotion to visual narratives, elevating the storytelling experience. By placing my friends in familiar settings, I aimed to capture their authenticity and natural charisma in front of the camera. I found that they were very natural and comfortable in front of the camera because of their environment.
Filmed on a Canon C100, this project required that I pay meticulous attention to composition, focus, and framing, ensuring that the visual narrative highlighted both the subject and the surrounding environment. Through thoughtful manipulation of framing and focus, I aimed to create visually captivating scenes that draw viewers into the action unfolding within each frame.
Ultimately, this project served as an exploration of human connection, visual storytelling, and the symbiotic relationship between individuals and their environments. By melding personal narratives with cinematic techniques, I aimed to evoke emotion and intrigue, inviting viewers to witness the beauty of everyday moments through a new lens.
