During my Video Editing I class, we were tasked with creating a music video for "I'll Wave," a song by Adrien LaSalle, using prerecorded footage of him performing the song and additional footage that we had to capture on our own. Much of what the assignment aimed to do was develop our skills in using B-Roll, but we worked on transition choices and audio syncing.
For my B-Roll, I filmed a friend of mine, Caroline Lynch, in some of the most beautiful areas of the UConn campus. I directed Lynch to bring to life the character that I imagined Adrien LaSalle could be singing about. The sunny environment and lighthearted air of the video we captured reflected the tone of the song, and the actions Lynch performed, such as the several instances of her waving at the camera, all contributed to her character and her relationship to the singer.
The video was edited entirely in Adobe Premiere Pro and filmed on an iPhone camera. The filming process, using a phone camera and working on location outside, presented its own set of challenges, but I am very pleased with how the final footage came out.
