As a part of my Commercial/Ad Spot Production course, we were tasked to create a commercial for a product/brand of our choosing. This commercial had to follow a narrative and needed to be cut to 30 and 15 seconds. I directed and wrote this spot with Jesse Gillett on camera.
With this piece, we aimed to lean into the comforting feelings associated with the holiday season and warmth of hot chocolate to bring out a homely feeling in the chocolate. Using hot chocolate instead of something more traditional like cookies was our way of breaking from what may be expected of a chocolate chip advertisement. It shows the versatility of the product while connecting it to the familiar.
